Omar Payne, a talented four-star big man out of the 2019 recruiting class, has committed to play for the Florida Gators.
He actually took to the mean streets of Twitter to make the announcement. The tweet is below:
100% Committed! Meet me at the swamp! #GoGators 🐊🐊

As you can tell in that fantastically well done video, several big boy programs were after the big man’s services. Obviously, they have all lost out to the Florida Gators.
As for Omar Payne, not only do all reputable recruiting service websites believe him to be a four-star graded player, but most people he’s one of the 38 (or so) best players in the entire 2019 recruiting class. It’s certainly also worth mention that, while it is splitting hairs, some outlets do already believe him to be a five-star.
Generally speaking, regardless of the number of stars attached to a player’s name, being one of the 40 best players in a recruiting class bodes well for the program the person commits to. Numbers. Science. Math. All that jazz.
Of relative in-state notes, this is a huge loss for Florida State, as the Seminoles were actively eyeing the homegrown (from a state standpoint) product.
