Anthony Harris, a four-star guard prospect out of the 2019 recruiting class, has asked the Virginia Tech Hokies for a release from his commitment so he can reopen his recruitment process. According to the player, by way of Evan Daniels, he will still consider Virginia Tech.
Given Buzz Williams leaving the program for the Texas A&M Aggies, this news isn’t exactly stunning.
“Congratulations to coach Buzz on his new position,” Harris told 247Sports. “Although I will still consider Virginia Tech, in order to fully weigh all my options I have decided to reopen my recruitment.”
Not only do all reputable recruiting service websites have Anthony Harris pegged as a four-star caliber player, but most agree he’s one of the 60 (or so) best players in the entire 2019 recruiting class.
As for the Virginia Tech Hokies, this is a relatively big blow, as he projects as an immediate impact type of player who can play either of the guard sports. Fully expect him to fight for big rotational minutes as a freshman wherever he lands.
