Precious Achiuwa, a five-star prospect out of the 2019 college basketball recruiting class, has committed to play for the Memphis Tigers. In turn, Penny Hardaway now has the number one ranked 2019 class in the entire country.

It’s certainly worth noting other schools were vying for his services. Programs like the North Carolina Tar Heels, with Roy Williams having offered him a scholarship, and UConn Huskies were hoping to land him.
Obviously, they lost out.
Not only do all reputable recruiting service outlets have Precious Achiuwa pegged as a five-star caliber player, but most agree he’s one of the 10 (or so) best players in the entire 2019 recruiting class. In turn, it’s not exactly shocking that a blue-blood program like UNC would be after his services.
The recruiting is all well and good for the Memphis Tigers. Still, Penny Hardaway will need to do some winning immediately if he wants to parlay the recruitment success into a longer term thing with the program.
