Olivier Robinson-Nkamhoua, a forward prospect out of the 2019 college basketball recruiting class, has been offered a scholarship by the Tennessee Volunteers. This news was relayed to the masses on Twitter by 247Sports reporter Evan Daniels.
This is a sneaky good get by the Vols, as people might not get excited by the raw star ratings, but there’s clearly some value here.
While most reputable recruiting service outlets do only have Olivier Robinson-Nkamhoua pegged as a three-star prospect, most tend to agree he’s one of the 150 (or) so best players in the 2019 recruiting class. For some context, the 150-ish number is roughly the area where three and four-star players begin to intertwine, making little actual difference in projected abilities.
Rick Barnes toyed with the idea of leaving Tennessee for the UCLA Bruins this offseason, but after some money went sideways and buyouts weren’t realistic for the Pac-12 program, the Vols kept their man.
The Tennessee Volunteers have a pretty high roster turnover from last season’s excellent team. Finding anyone who can help immediately, if only with depth, is a big deal. Olivier Robinson-Nkamhoua can be that addition to depth, if not more.
