Joe Toussaint, a point guard prospect out of the 2019 recruiting class, has committed to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
A Bronx product, Dayton, Drexel, Fordham and a few other quality programs were in the mix for the points guard’s services.
A talented player, most reputable recruiting service websites have Joe Toussaint pegged as a three-star caliber prospect. While many of those same recruiting service websites have him slotted as one of the better recruits in the state of New York, most agree he’s just outside being one of the top 200 players in the 2019 class.
On the NIKE EYBL circuit this summer, he averaged 5.8 points and 4.5 assists a game playing for the PSA Cardinals.
It’s still early in the 2019 recruiting game, but the point guard joins Patrick McCaffery at Iowa, giving the Hawkeyes one of the 20 or so best recruiting classes in the country. Obviously, that’s a rather fluid statement given it’s only September.
Nevertheless, the Iowa Hawkeyes got a prospect it coveted on the recruiting trail. While there’s no winning trophies being handed out for a job well done on the recruiting trail, landing talented players is certainly better than nothing happening at all.
