Xavier Foster, a four-star big man prospect out of the 2020 recruiting class, has emerged as a real target of the Duke Blue Devils. This news was relayed on Twitter by Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten, who mentioned that an assistant was in to see Foster play in two games and that Coach K would likely see him again this weekend.
It’s not exactly shocking the Blue Devils are targeting quality players on recruiting classes, but since the 2018 class (relative to expectations) underachieved after being one of the most hyped classes in history, it does appear that Coach K is looking to balance out his recruiting classes more; not only trying to land one-and-done players.
As for Xavier Foster, not only do most reputable recruiting service outlets have him pegged as a four-star caliber player, but most tend to agree he’s one of the 30 (or so) best players in the entire 2020 grouping.
Again, it’s not like the Duke Blue Devils are chasing three-star caliber players. But as is evident through their 2019 class, which presumably ‘only’ features two one-and-done level players, it appears Coach K is trying to land multi-year guys moving forward.
If not, either way, it’ll be interesting to see how he handles the recruiting trail moving forward.
