RJ Hampton, a five-star talent out of the 2019 college basketball recruiting class, will skip college to instead play for the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian NBL.
He made the announcement on ESPN’s Get Up television show.

Prior to this, the four schools left in the mix to land his services were the Duke Blue Devils, Kentucky Wildcats, Memphis Tigers and Kansas Jayhakws. Basically, the bluest of blue blood schools, as well as a Memphis program spearheaded by recruiting guru Penny Hardaway.
All of it is obviously for not, as the youngster is going to turn pro instead.
Not only do all reputable recruiting service websites have him pegged as a five-star recruit, but all seem to agree RJ Hampton is one of the five best players in the entire 2020 recruiting class. He is, apparently, very good at basketball.
I guess the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian NBL are now a must-watch team or something. RJ Hampton should end up being a lottery level NBA Draft prospect.
