Terrance Shannon Jr, a four-star small forward prospect out of the 2019 recruiting class, has committed to play for the DePaul Blue Demons.
The youngster made the announcement on Twitter with a video clip.
Oddly enough, despite most reputable recruiting service websites pegging him both a four-star talent and one of the 100 best players in the nation, it wasn’t until late in his cycle that he began receiving scholarship offers from major basketball programs.
A 6-foot-7 forward from Illinois, Terrance Shannon Jr committed to the DePaul Blue Demons over offers from the Maryland Terrapins and Florida State Seminoles.
Of relative note, Shannon will play for the famed IMG Academy in Florida for his last non-collegiate season. He only announced that decision late last week. He was with Lincoln Park before that, and grew to prominence among scouts during his play for the Mac Irvin Fire on the AAU circuit.
Given recent scandals surrounding the basketball program, this is an actually large land on the recruiting trail for DePaul. Only time will tell if it helps the program awaken from its decades long slumber.
