The early signing period is almost here, and commitments are beginning to display as we inch closer to the date it begins. Two schools have received commitments from players this week, as the USC Trojans and Iowa Hawkeyes land key talent on the recruiting trail.
Beginning with USC, four-star wing Alissa Pili of Dimond High School has indeed given a verbal commitment to the Trojans. Pili was a key member of the Alaska Stars and is a physical 6-foot forward. She is an athlete who can face up very well and has great touch on her jump shot.
Pili will become a mismatch nightmare for the opposition, as she’s a skilled and very unselfish talent. She will give USC a needed inside-outside presence. Alissa Pili is the second ESPNU HoopGurlz prospect to commit to USC. Angel Jackson, A 5-star prospect, has also chosen to play for the Trojans.
Equally important, her skill set, and her strength will be critical. Perimeter players were having trouble with her size and post players could not keep up with her due to her agility.
Iowa was able to receive a verbal commitment from Mckenna Warnock. The 6-foot prospect played her high school basketball at Monona Grove. The four-star prospect chose Iowa over Marquette. Warnock is a balanced perimeter player who can execute very well in the half-court and can compete on both ends of the floor. She is the only ESPNU HoopGurlz recruit to commit to the Hawkeyes.
She is the second commitment to Iowa as Gabbie Marshall out of Mount Notre Dame in Ohio has also committed.
