Nico Mannion, a hyped five-star point guard prospect out of the 2019 recruiting class, has narrowed his potential programs down to four schools.
According to his own social media post, those college basketball programs are the Arizona Wildcats, Villanova Wildcats, Duke Blue Devils and Marquette Golden Eagles.
Vanderbilt, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Utah and Kansas were all previously in the mix for the talented youngster, but are now clearly no longer in play.
It is certainly worth noting that Nico Mannion was originally a member of the 2020 recruiting class, but like many of his peers, he’s reclassified to be a part of the 2019 grouping.
A 6-foot-3 point guard, Mannion averaged 23.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 2.0 steals at Pinnacle High School last season. Those numbers aren’t just gaudy, as are many for high school talents playing inferior competition, it is the type of stats many project him to have even when operating in college.
A native of Phoenix, many surmise he will end up playing for Arizona, but given that he has time to make his decision, the other schools can certainly change his mind if that suggestion is actually so.
Nevertheless, he is likely to be a player of immediate impact no matter the program he commits to.
