The Washington Huskies gave the Gonzaga Bulldogs everything they had, but a clutch shot by superstar Rui Hachimura stopped the upset attempt in its tracks with 0.6 seconds on the clock.
According to folks on Gonzaga, this was pretty much the plan.
“They left Rui open where he is automatic,” Josh Perkins said, via The AP.
“We wanted Rui to take that shot in that situation,” teammate Zach Norvell Jr. said. “He shoots that shot a lot.”
Rui Hachimura, who has become a household name in homes that care for college basketball, had himself a game against the Huskies. By the time his stellar performance was over, he had 26 points.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, as written about at CBB Today this week, the Washington Huskies are well beyond solid as a program. Mike Hopkins has his team playing above its means on a regular basis, leaving room for a bright future.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs improve to 9-0 on the regular season. The Washington Huskies fall to a respectable 6-3.
