Former McDonald’s All-American Alexis Morris has been dismissed from the Baylor Lady Bears. The dismissal was announced on Tuesday. The sophomore averaged 9.1 points, 3.4 assists and 2.9 rebounds last season for Baylor in 32 games. Along with playing in 32 games, Morris started eight games for the Lady Bears.
Head coach Kim Mulkey gave this statement on Tuesday:
“Sophomore guard Alexis Morris has been dismissed from the Baylor Lady Bears basketball team for violation of team rules, effective immediately.”
No report has come out what team rules Morris defied.
As a senior at Beaumont Legacy Christian Academy in Beaumont, Texas, the number 6 ranked player in the class of 2018 averaged 25 points, 8.4 assists and 8.2 rebounds.
If more information comes out regarding what happened with Alexis Morris, CBB Today will keep you posted.
Last season, Baylor finished number 2 in the final AP polls after advancing to the Elite Eight and finished the season 33-2. In turn, losing a player like Morris — strictly from an on-the-court perspective — is a huge loss. She was projected to have an even larger role for the Bears for the upcoming season.
