After firing an assistant, scuttlebutt around college basketball had been about the Arizona Wildcats gearing up to fire Sean Miller. During halftime of a game on Sunday, however, the school’s athletic director painted a slightly different picture.
“We’re fully supportive of the coaching staff, the leadership of the basketball program,” Dave Heeke, Arizona’s AD, said. “We’re supporting, as I have said before, we support Coach Miller. Those things that have been said to the contrary to that are not true.”

Mark Phelps, the aforementioned assistant who was fired, has denied any wrongdoing. ESPN was reporting that then-Arizona recruit Shareef O’Neal’s academic transcripts were messed around with. The young man, who is out for the season due to a heart issue, is a member of the UCLA Bruins.
