Even with Chuma Okeke unable to play, the Auburn Tigers managed to upset the Kentucky Wildcats to advance to the Final Four portion of the NCAA Tournament.
After the overtime victory, Bruce Pearl admitted his team was looking to make history in the Big Dance.
“We wanted to make history,” Pearl said. “You have to understand, at Auburn in athletics, we’re not Cinderellas in anything. We’re really, really good in all those other sports. We win championships. Been a long time since men’s basketball has been good.”
To put some context into just how huge this win was for the Tigers, Auburn would have been underdogs even if Okeke played.
