College basketball coaches will often tout previous failures as a reason for current successes. Auburn Tigers coach Bruce Pearl is no different, as he believes his team made the Final Four, at least in part, because of last season’s shortcomings.
Basically, it’s not just falling short, but the underclassmen gaining experience while doing so.
“The reason sometimes some of the kids that are coming in as freshmen haven’t been able to advance past a certain round and not get to the Final Four, win a national championship, is because they don’t have the experience of having not gotten there,” Auburn Tigers coach Bruce Pearl said. “That experience we had a year ago of not being able to advance through the tournament helped us as well.”
With the Final Four only hours away, the Auburn Tigers are looking to continue to make history, building their program by way of a magical NCAA Tournament run.
Time will tell, but does Bruce Pearl and company have 80 more minutes of wizardly hoops left up their sleeve?
