Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks entered the 2019 NCAA Tournament with the lowest set of expectations the program has seen in years.
There’s reason for that, as it was the first time in approximately eleventy-billion years Kansas did not win the Big 12 regular season championship. Still, it’s a bit of a blessing to not have a college basketball loving nation breathing down your back during the sport’s biggest stage.
For Self, who has been doing some tinkering to his lineup all season long for various reasons, his youthful roster is providing him a chance to tweak things. And if you ask him, he’s enjoying it.
“Sometimes the way we play in the past isn’t as available to us now, so we have to figure out different ways to do things,” Bill Self said. “It’s been fun for me to try to tweak some things to get the most out of them.”
Up next for the Kansas Jayhawks is the Round of 32 where they will face the Auburn Tigers.
