Following a huge win on Saturday against the No. 1 ranked Kansas Jayhawks, Arizona State Sun Devils coach Bobby Hurley had to admit how important the victory was for not only this season, but his college basketball program moving forward.
How do we know this? He literally said as much.
“This was a huge moment for our basketball program,” Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley said via The AP.
The Arizona State Sun Devils used a late 10-0 run to take the lead over the Kansas Jayhawks, eventually defeating the Big 12 power, 80-76. With the victory, the Sun Devils improve to 9-2 on the college basketball season. Furthermore, the win injects some much needed life in the Pac-12.
“Those are the moments we live for,” said Arizona State’s Remy Martin, who had 10 points and a big pull-up jumper with 58 seconds left.
It will be interesting to see how much this impacts The AP Polls when they are released, as voters tend to be a bit reactionary whenever the No. 1 ranked team in the nation goes down.
Arizona State plays Princeton next Saturday in what will be the team’s last non-conference game of the season.
