With March looming, the Clemson Tigers used several practices to get ready for a final push to create a strong end for February. They needed it, as they entered the weekend coming off three straight losses.
While there’s still a few days remaining, on Saturday against the Boston College Eagles, the practices paid off, as the Tigers defeated their ACC foe, 76-66.
Marcquise Reed scored 31 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and added 4 assists for good measure to help Clemson earn the victory. After the game, he explained the week’s preparations.
“We came into our practices with a sense of urgency,” Reed said.
A senior, this will be Reed’s last chance at dancing in a pair of NCAA Tournament slippers — provided the Tigers earn them come Selection Sunday.
With the victory, the Clemson Tigers improved to 16-11 on the season. As importantly, they are 6-8 in ACC-play.
The bubble is supposedly the weakest it has been in years, giving the Tigers a reason to believe a solid run at the end of the season, coupled with a good ACC Tournament showing, should be enough to once again trot about collegiate hardwoods in the Big Dance.
