The Connecticut Huskies are reportedly heading back to the Big East Conference. Digital Sports Desk is claiming multiple sources are saying the program will head back to its old stomping ground for basketball.
A confirmation from outside Digital Sports Desk was also sent:
I can confirm that UConn is awaiting official invitation to the Big East and a formal announcement of the move is forthcoming. First reported by @DigSportsDesk
UConn football likely lands in another conference or goes independent, starting in 2020 season.

According to the report, the Connecticut Huskies will still need to work out some details with the AAC.
It’s important to highlight some are giving somewhat conflicting reports, such as Stadium’s Jeff Goodman, who says these talks are in the works, but nothing is finalized.
Nothing done with UConn to Big East … yet. But there have been talks at highest level at UConn about move, sources told @Stadium. Would be right move for both UConn and Big East if it happens. https://t.co/y4cvYK9RdP
— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanHoops) June 22, 2019
It isn’t only Goodman who is downplaying the initial report. Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports reporter Jon Rothstein is also keying on the verbiage:
Sources: Contrary to reports, there is nothing official between UConn and the Big East. Big East has yet to have an official vote as to whether or not to extend an invitation to the Huskies. If an invitation is extended, UConn's Board of Trustees would have to vote to approve.
— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) June 22, 2019
It is worth noting that some of this can be claimed as verbiage semantics. The initial report says essentially the same thing as Goodman and Rothstein, that nothing is offical, but it does go a step deeper to infer the Connecticut Huskies joining the Big East Conference is essentially a formality.
As you can tell, as the day has gone on, even more reporting has happened to confirm the move:
Source confirmed that UConn will be added as a member of the Big East. Announcement likely this week.

This story is obviously still developing. CBBToday will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
Update (11:31 Eastern): It appears as though this is basically all setup.
UConn will join Big East in all sports it sponsors likely in 2020, sources told @Stadium. It’s unknown whether UConn football will remain in AAC, play in another FBS conference – perhaps MAC or C-USA – or go independent, source said. 1st reported by @DigSportsDesk
