Chet Holmgren, a five-star big man prospect out of the 2021 college basketball recruiting class, will be checked in on by Duke and Purdue. While we know Matt Painter is doing the visiting for the Boilermakers, we’re unsure who is doing the work for the Blue Devils.
This news was relayed to the masses on Twitter by Stockrisers and Rivals reporter Jake Weingarten.
What makes Chet Holmgren interesting is his quick rise up reputable recruiting services’ boards.
Other programs are also after his services. From Minneapolis, the youngster is being pursued by the Minnesota Golden Gophers and Texas Longhorns, just to name a few.
Originally, no only did most reputable recruiting service outlets have Chet Holmgren pegged as a four-star caliber player, but most agreed he’s one of the 45 (or so) best players in the entire 2021 recruiting class.
As time has gone by, things have changed. Using ESPN as an example, the worldwide leader not only bumped up the kid to a five-star, but claim him to be one of the five best players in the entire class.
With his recruitment cycle still a bit shy from taking place in earnest, don’t expect the big to make any declarations in the immediate future. He has plenty of time to weigh his options, especially since each program might look drastically different by the time he’s eligible to play on the collegiate level.
Only time will tell if the Duke Blue Devils or Purdue Boilermakers can do enough to land Chet Holmgren.
