Mark Williams, a four-star big man prospect out of the 2020 recruiting class, will have an in-home visit with the Duke Blue Devils. Mike Kryzyzewski will actually be there for the visit, as reported by Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten, who also mentioned that the famed program offered the youngster a scholarship over the weekend.
Basically, Duke is going all out, quickly, to impress the big man.
A legit seven-footer, not only do all reputable recruiting service outlets have Mark Williams pegged as a four-star caliber player, but most tend to agree he’s one of the 45 (or so) best players in the entire 2020 grouping.
From Virginia, plenty of other ACC schools are after his services, as well as other quality programs spread throughout the entire country.
As for Coach K, his work on the recruiting trail seems differently in a world after the 2018 super class. While the Duke Blue Devils are still targeting very talented players, it appears as though they’re also not going after as many projected one-and-done type talents.
Conjecture, but maybe the legendary coach is looking for more balance to help with stability and limiting insane roster turnover.
