The Auburn Tigers upset the Kansas Jayhawks in the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday. This was only, obviously, one game removed from it appearing as though the Tigers were trying hard to be upset themselves in the first round of the Big Dance.
With the win, a college basketball loving nation is likely subject to Bruce Pearl to (insert whatever huge program) rumors. That’s the wayward news. The good? Auburn knows its identity.
After the game, Bryce Brown, who scored 25 points, elaborated on just that.
“It starts on the defensive side of the ball with us,” Brown said. “Typically, when we start off hot on a defensive end, we start off hot on the offensive end. And that’s what it’s been like all season-long.”
It obviously helped Auburn that they couldn’t miss a shot for a long stretch, but Brown’s point remains accurate. If the Tigers want to continue to make a run in the NCAA Tournament, it will be up to their defense to get it done.
Up next for the Auburn Tigers is North Carolina or Washington in the Sweet 16 on Thursday.
