Andre Jackson, a five-star shooting prospect out of the 2020 recruiting class, has been offered a scholarship by the Georgetown Hoyas. This news was relayed on Twitter by Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten.
From the outside, it might not seem like a big deal that Georgetown is offering a five-star recruit a scholarship, but it does help highlight how quickly the program is growing under Patrick Ewing. While every school can offer a scholarship to whoever, most only extend them to players the program believes they have a sincere shot at landing.
Basically, the Hoyas are firmly back at a place where they believe they should be competing with other blue-blood programs on the recruiting trail. Also, you know, it helps Georgetown has been much better on the court the since Ewing took over the program.
As for Andre Jackson, not only do most reputable recruiting service outlets have him pegged as a five-star caliber player, but most agree he’s one of the 40 (or so) best talents in the entire class. It is worth noting, though, a few prominent outlets do have him slotted as a higher level four-star.
