Jermontae Hill, a four-star forward prospect out of the 2020 recruiting class, has been offered a scholarship by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
A 6-foot-6 talent, Hill is considered a rather versatile player for a talent at his current developmental stage. As it is for everyone at it, however, he is still a bit raw and needs some natural physical maturing. Again, noting harshly here, this isn’t exactly shocking given his age.
Nevertheless, not only is Jermontae Hill considered a four-star prospect by most reputable recruiting service outlets, but most tend to agree he’s right outside most top 100 boards. Considering his recruiting class is a few years away, that can change, and he could certainly shoot up some top 100 boards over the course of the next two years.
It’s an interesting move by Georgia Tech head coach Josh Pastner to offer a player a scholarship this far out in advance. While some outsiders argue it’s silly to make such a move, plenty of folks “in the know” believe it’s smart for programs to get in on a talented player as soon as possible in that person’s recruitment process.
Basically, the idea is it gives them an edge when the player inevitably commits.
