The Illinois Fighting Illini will be checking in on 2020 rising shooting guard DJ Gordon. This news was relayed on Twitter by Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten, who also mentioned that 10 programs are about to see the youngster soon.
For some context, the Arizona State Sun Devils have already offered the kid a scholarship back in December. We mention that because not all recruiting service outlets have the young man pegged as a four-star caliber player.
DJ Gordon is an actual rising junior, though. Most reputable recruiting service websites do only list him as a three-star recruit at the moment, but thanks to some stellar play during the cold months, it won’t be shocking if he ends up as a four-star by the time the 2019 recruiting cycle (the one before his kicks off in earnest) is over.
As of right now, he’s roughly ranked as one of the 140 (or so) best players in the entire 2020 class.
As for the Illinois Fighting Illini, coming off a pretty tough season, they’ll need a good 2019-20 campaign if they want to turn the figurative ship around.
