The Iowa Hawkeyes are trying to get in early, as the program has offered a scholarship to Khristian Lander, a 2021 five-star prospect.
From Indiana, the 5-foot-11 guard is drawing interest from plenty of blue-blood programs and others nearby. The Indiana Hoosiers, Butler Bulldogs, Purdue Boilermakers and a host of other schools have already shown interest in the youngster.
While 2021 is a bit down the road, those who follow grassroots basketball closely will tell you that he’s not only considered a five-star caliber player, but Khristian Lander is one of the 15 (or so) best prospects in the entire 2021 recruiting class.
Obviously, a lot can change over the course of the next three years. Some schools might join in recruiting him, others could bail, and Lander could even grow in both literal size and talent.
Nevertheless, this is a smart move by the Iowa Hawkeyes. Plenty of recruits prefer being shown interest early in their recruiting processes, even sometimes resulting in as early commitments.
Only time will tell if that’s the case here.
