Jaykwon Walton, a four-star guard prospect out of the 2019 recruiting class, has committed to play for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
The first pledge of Mississippi State’s 2019 class, Walton is considered a top-70 prospect according to most reputable recruiting service websites.
He chose the Bulldogs over several other prominent college basketball programs such as Florida, Georgia, Memphis and a handful of others.
As for why he committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Jaykwon Walton opened up to recruiting guru Evan Daniels over at 247:
“Mississippi State and it just had a lot to do with my mom and it’s a great school and I feel like I can reach my dreams from there,” Walton said..
“They are great coaches,” he added. “They’ll put you in the right position to succeed. They are going to make me a better person on and off the court.”
This is a big get for Ben Howland. The SEC is becoming increasingly dangerous each new season and is arguably the best in the country. While that title is usually reserved for the Big East or ACC, thanks to all the prominent head coaches who began to join the fold a few years ago, there might not be as deep a coaching fraternity in any other league as there is in the SEC.
