College basketball coach John Beilein is reportedly set to leave the Michigan Wolverines to join the NBA franchise the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
This news is relatively stunning, given there were little rumors leading up to this breaking news, and a college basketball loving nation is only a year removed from Beilein turning down the same position with the Detroit Pistons.
Wojnarowski is reporting that Beilein agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, then informing the Michigan Wolverines shortly thereafter.
This news is interesting for several reason, not only those limited to how he will do within the tough NBA confines.
John Beilein, who has taken Michigan to two Final Fours and has had a well above-good run at the college basketball level, is going to leave a gaping hole for the Wolverines.
Expect more information on this matter to come out as the day gets longer in the tooth.
