Julian Champagnie might not be a household name even for those who follow grassroots basketball with the fury of 1,000 suns, but he’s been a target for several major college basketball programs.
According to Rivals and Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten, the young man has not only reclassified to the 2019 recruiting class, but has also narrowed his potential landing spots to a final five. Furthermore, he’s expected to announce his decision within the next few hours.
The Pittsburgh Panthers, Cincinnati Bearcats, Seton Hall Pirates, St. John’s Red Storm and Washington State Cougars have all made the talented young man’s final cut. It’s certainly worth noting he has some familiarity with Pitt, as his brother is committed to the program.
“After deep thought, my family and I have decided that it is in my best interest to return to the class of 2019 and attend college this coming fall,” Champagnie wrote on Instagram. “I will be making my college announcement this Wednesday.”
Julian Champagnie is considered a three-star prospect by the reputable recruiting outlets that do have him ranked, but there are some who don’t even have him on the board.
