Marquette Golden Eagles talent Markus Howard was already considered one of the most prolific scorers in all of college basketball, but in a win over the Creighton Bluejays on Wednesday, he certainly cemented himself as a must-watch player moving forward.
While some downers might bring up it took overtime, Howard scored 53 points against Creighton, 14 of those coming in the extra few minutes of play. Clutch points for a great scorer, what can be better?
“I guess we shouldn’t be surprised anymore,” Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski said. “He’s done it enough where on certain nights he’s capable of being magical. Every night he’s really, really good. He certainly delivered at an incredible level tonight, and his teammates came up with some big plays, too.”
With the victory, the Marquette Golden Eagles improved to 13-3 on the season (2-1 in Big East play).
As for Markus Howard, he’s not only averaging around 26 points per game, he’s doing so with efficiency, shooting 45 percent from both the floor and beyond the arc. He is, you know, good at basketball.
