Few people predicted the Maryland Terrapins would be in the position they’re currently in this early in the 2018-19 college basketball season.
After yet another victory on Friday, this time over a good Indiana Hoosiers team, Maryland coach Mark Turgeon did admit his team is slightly different now than it was before a fat man in a red suit broke into millions and millions of houses.
“We’re getting better. We’ve really improved since Christmas,” Turgeon said via The AP. “We wouldn’t have won that game before Christmas. We wouldn’t have figured it out.”
With the win over Indiana on Friday, Maryland improved to 14-3 on the season. Even more importantly, the Terrapins are 5-1 in the Big Ten Conference.
It’s not insanely shocking that the Maryland Terrapins are good. CBB Today did have the Terps in our preseason Top 25 Poll, there’s at least one NBA-level player on the roster, and Turgeon is an excellent coach. Basically, don’t let preseason expectations force you into believing this tremendous start is a fluke.
