Caleb Furst, a five-star forward prospect out of the 2021 recruiting class, is starting to catch the watchful eye of the Michigan Wolverines. According to Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten, Michigan sent an assistant to check in on him on Tuesday.
Obviously, the 2021 recruiting class will have time to consider all options, but it’s never too early for a program to begin targeting a prospect with this sort of projected value.
Reputable recruiting service outlets are somewhat torn on Caleb Furst. Some have him locked in as a five-star caliber player. Others have him as a highly regarded four-star talent. That being said, nearly all agree he’s one of the 30 (or so) best players in the entire 2021 class.
It’s also worth noting, with his class being some time away from being evaluated in more earnest, he can still move up outlets’ top 100 boards.
As for the Michigan Wolverines, if they’re recruiting Furst, it must mean he is at least a solid defender who projects to develop well under the right coaching in college basketball. After all, those are those program’s unwritten rules.
