North Carolina Tar Heels freshman Coby White entered the season without the same hype as some of his first-year ACC brethren. Following a very good regular season, coupled with an excellent NCAA Tournament run so far, he’s quickly found himself at the center of a lot of NBA Draft discussions on social media.
He is, what the cool kids from 2017 would say, lit.
On Sunday, White had yet another outstanding performance, helping the Tar Heels advance to the Sweet 16 by dropping 17 points on the Washington Huskies.
It was his first half performance that will garner all the attention, as Washington changed its game plan to specifically stop Coby White in the second half.
“They were trying to have somebody in front of him the whole game,” North Carolina Tar Heels coach Roy Williams said. “And he picked his spots. And I thought he really did a nice job for us. He didn’t have many opportunities the second half because they tried to cover him more, but he was good.”
The North Carolina Tar Heels have a great balance of upperclassmen and a few freshmen dynamos. It’s why many have UNC picked to reach the Final Four in their bracket pools.
