Jalen Cone, a four-star prospect out of the 2020 recruiting class, has been offered a scholarship by the North Carolina State Wolfpack. The offer actually comes with an interesting caveat, as the youngster has an option to reclassify for the 2019 class, joining NC State a year early.
The ability to reclassify isn’t something insanely new to Cone, as a few other programs have offered him that option, including the Tennessee Volunteers.
This news was relayed on Twitter by Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten, who also mentioned the full coaching staff met with him.
Nearly all reputable recruiting service outlets do consider Jalen Cone a four-star prospect. Not only that, though, as most tend to agree he’s one of the 60 (or so) best players in the entire 2020 recruiting class.
Kevin Keatts obviously wants to land the talented young man, but given projected roster turnover this summer (depending on NBA Draft decisions before the withdrawal deadline), it might be safe to assume he’d prefer Jalen Cone to commit to the North Carolina State Wolfpack for the 2019 class.
To be clear, that last part is 100 percent conjecture.
