The Pittsburgh Panthers have extended a scholarship offer to 2020 rising shooting guard DJ Gordon. This news was relayed on Twitter by Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten. He also mentioned that Jeff Capel was in on Wednesday to check in on five-star prospect Earl Timberlake.
An important season for Pittsburgh is upcoming. The Panthers are clearly in a better place with Capel, having moved on from the Kevin Stallings debacle, but a more consistent level of success is still needed.
DJ Gordon is an actual rising junior. Most reputable recruiting service websites do only list him as a three-star recruit at the moment, but thanks to some stellar play, it won’t be shocking if he ends up as a four-star from the majority of the outlets by the time he hits campus.
That said, regardless if outlets have him as a three or four-star, he is considered one of the 140 (or so) best players in his class.
The Pittsburgh Panthers are clearly hoping to land him, adding a four-year talent to their program.
