The Pittsburgh Panthers set an assistant to see 2019 four-star big man Kofi Cockburn on Saturday. This is according to a report from CBB Today writer and Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten. Weingarten also mentioned that the center is a primary target for head coach Jeff Capel.
Cockburn is an interesting prospect, as reputable recruiting service websites are somewhat split on his star ratings. Some have him pegged as a four-star, with a few having him as a five-star caliber player. Nevertheless, most tend to agree Kofi Cockburn is one of the 30 (or so) best players in the entire 2019 recruiting class.
It’s certainly worth noting other quality programs are also after his services. Those schools are, but are not limited to, UConn, Syracuse, Florida State, Kansas and LSU. Obviously, time will tell where the young man decides to play his collegiate basketball.
For the Pittsburgh Panthers, a program turning the corner since moving on from Kevin Stallings, landing a player such as Kofi Cockburn would be a great addition to their 2019 recruiting class.
