The Purdue Boilermakers should be celebrated for making the Sweet 16 portion of the NCAA Tournament. That being said, it appears as though head coach Matt Painter isn’t yet happy enough to be satisfied with their run in the Big Dance.
Following their Round of 32 win against the defending champions, the Villanova Wildcats, Painter explained how he’s proud of his guys, but their work in the NCAA Tournament is not yet done.
“You know you’re greedy as a coach,” he said. “You look at it like you didn’t advance further; you should have played better in conference play. We’re excited about going to the Sweet 16, but we want to do better. We want to do better for ourselves and our fans.”
Up next for the Purdue Boilermakers is the Sweet 16. At the time of this writing, Iowa and Tennessee are in overtime. The winner of that game will face Purdue.
