Zed Key, a four-star prospect out of the 2020 recruiting class, has been extended a scholarship offer by the Seton Hall Pirates.
A big man prospect out of Glen Head, New York, other notable programs like the Florida Gators and Cincinnati Bearcats are eyeing the young man.
It’s certainly worth noting that not all reputable recruiting service outlets have four stars attached to his name. Some have Zed Key currently pegged as a three-star prospect, and even a few (such as 247Sports) have him outside their top 200 boards.
Apparently, this has a lot to do with his projected collegiate position and size. Standing 6-foot-7, a few outlets believe Key will play center when he hits the collegiate scene. If he were a few inches taller, he’d for sure be at least a four-star prospect (if that is what’s currently holding him back).
Either way, star ratings are great guides, but don’t define these kids. Especially not before ever playing college basketball.
At least, that’s what the Seton Hall Pirates are banking on.
