Kennedy Chandler, a four-star prospect out of the 2021 recruiting class, has been offered a scholarship by the St. John’s Red Storm. This news was relayed on Twitter by Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten, who also mentioned that a handful of other programs recently offered the young man a scholarship.
Those schools are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Iowa State Cyclones, Virginia Tech Hokies and Arkansas Razorbacks.
Not all recruiting service outlets have begun to rank 2021 prospects in earnest. That being said, those who have, either peg Kennedy Chandler as a four or five-star recruit. Furthermore, those outlets tend to agree he’s one of the 30 (or so) best players in the entire 2021 recruiting class.
Given the time between now and 2021, his star status can obviously change between now and the time of his commitment.
As for the St. John’s Red Storm, the program is hoping to erase the debacle that was hiring a new coach. After running the gauntlet, and being turned down by several high profile coaches, the Red Storm landed Mike Anderson.
