DJ Steward, a five-star prospect out of the 2020 college basketball recruiting class, is currently taking an official visit with the Texas Longhorns.
This news was relayed to the masses on the mean streets of Twitter by Rivals and Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten, who mentioned part of the appeal of the visit this weekend is the Longhorn’s football game against the LSU Tigers.
A 6-foot-1 point guard prospect out of Chicago, plenty of programs are after Steward’s services. Naturally, Illinois-based programs like the DePaul Blue Demons are eyeing him, as are other schools such as the Creighton Bluejays, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Florida Gators.
Not only do all reputable recruiting service outlets have DJ Steward pegged as a five-star caliber recruit, but most tend to agree he’s one of the 25 (or so) best players in the entire 2020 recruiting class. This is significant, as there was a moment in time when many of those same outlets had him slotted 80 spots lower.
The Texas Longhorns are expected to have other top prospects on campus during the weekend, including five-star Greg Brown.
It is still relatively early in Steward’s recruitment process. CBB Today will keep you posted as it develops over the course of the year. Furthermore, whenever DJ Steward inevitably makes his decision.
