DJ Steward, a four-star prospect out of the 2020 college basketball recruiting class, will visit the Texas Longhorns this weekend. The visit will be official in capacity.
This news was relayed on Twitter by Rivals and Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten, who also mentioned the young man is working to a visit with the Louisville Cardinals as well.
Texas being in the mix isn’t shocking at this point. Back in April, the staff went out to see him, including head coach Shaka Smart. Before that, the program offered him a scholarship in January. Basically, he’s been a priority target of the school for some time.
A 6-foot-1 point guard prospect out of Chicago, plenty of programs are after Steward’s services. Naturally, Illinois-based programs like the DePaul Blue Demons are eyeing him, as are other schools such as the Creighton Bluejays, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Florida Gators.
Not only do all reputable recruiting service outlets have DJ Steward pegged as a four-star caliber recruit, but most tend to agree he’s one of the 110 (or so) best players in the entire 2020 recruiting class.
Time will tell if the Texas Longhorns are able to land him.
