Texas Tech Red Raiders coach Chris Beard hit the college basketball trope bingo board after his team defeated the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday.
Jokes are often hurled around social media over the idea of moxie, grit and grind. Apparently, and we mean this with the kindest of hearts, those narrative-driven words mean a lot to Beard. Well, at least one of them does.
“We needed some grit to beat a Kansas State team that wasn’t going to go away, and Davide delivered,” Tech coach Chris Beard said. “I thought we showed some grit. We hung in there and gave ourselves a chance.”
The aforementioned Davide Moretti did make some legitimately huge offensive plays when the Texas Tech Red Raiders needed them most.
As for the grit, it’s real, I guess? If only Beard went on to talk about grinding his way to better coaching and the moxie of his assistants, we could have had ourselves a truly good giggle.
Nevertheless, the Red Raiders are one of the best teams in all of the nation. With the win, Texas Tech improved to 13-1 on the season.
