History said that the Texas Tech Red Raiders would have to endure a very close, very taxing, very difficult game against the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday night in Lubbock.
History said that Kansas, the winner of the Big 12 regular-season championship — outright or shared — in each of the previous 14 college basketball seasons, would put up a fight and force the Red Raiders to dig very deeply in order to put “The Streak” on life support.
History — like the Jayhawks — got punched in the mouth.
The Red Raiders threw the haymakers and roundhouse blows. They sent Kansas to the deck very early in Saturday’s game. They did not allow the Jayhawks to get up. This fight was over in the second round. TKO, baby.
Things you never thought you'd tweet: Texas Tech beats Kansas by 29 in late February with the Big 12 hanging in the balance.
