The Mick Cronin era is off and running. Trey Patterson, a five-star prospect out of the 2021 recruiting class, has been offered a scholarship by the UCLA Bruins. This news was relayed on Twitter by Stockrisers reporter Jake Weingarten.
This is actually the first recruit Cronin has offered since landing the job only a few days ago. Obviously, no matter what happens with players expected to return next season, it is important for him to do well on the recruiting trail as soon as possible.
As for Trey Patterson, not only do most reputable recruiting service outlets have the young man pegged as a five-star caliber player, but most tend to agree he’s one of the 18 (or so) best players in the entire 2021 recruiting class.
Now having more name-brand appeal with the UCLA Bruins, it will be interesting to see how Cronin does recruiting moving forward. He was always above-average while at Cincinnati, but overseeing a blue-blood program is a different beast.
