Following a victory over the Florida A&M Rattlers on Monday night, there was plenty reason to smile if one is a fan of the Utah Utes. After some gutsy play from freshman wing Both Gach, though, Utes head coach Larry Krystkowiak didn’t want to just focus on his switching of the rotation. Instead, he wanted to hurl some general praise toward his young freshman.
“He’s a warrior,” Krystkowiak said via The AP, noting that many of his players would not have practiced, participated in shootaround, and may not have even played with a similar injury. “He’s playing through a little bit of pain and that’s one of the things that’s going to make Both a special player.”
While he only scored 2 points against Florida A&M in 17 minutes, Both Gach was coming off a great performance against the Kentucky Wildcats, scoring 22 points on the road. While he’s still a bit raw as a player, and clearly one who is dealing with injuries, he’s shown some flashes of earnest promise.
With the victory, the Utah Utes improved to 5-5 on the season.
