Julian Champagnie, a versatile scorer who just recently reclassified to be a member of the 2019 college basketball recruiting class, has committed to the St. John’s Red Storm.
This news comes only a few hours removed for the announcement of the young man’s reclassification and list of final five schools. For reference, those programs were the Pittsburgh Panthers, Cincinnati Bearcats, Seton Hall Pirates, St. John’s Red Storm and Washington State Cougars.
Julian Champagnie is considered a three-star prospect by the reputable recruiting outlets that do have him ranked, but there are some who don’t even have him on the board. That being said, even prior to his commitment, glowing reviews of his game started to pour in.
He’s said to have an ability to score in a variety of ways, which could be useful in a system that is likely to push the tempo.
This is a significant get for new St. John’s Red Storm coach Mike Anderson. Depending on what happens with graduate transfers, the new-look Johnnies are going to need all the talent they can get, as they’re losing some key pieces to the NBA Draft.
