The Virginia Cavaliers were able to defeat the Clemson Tigers on Saturday by 20 points. Yet more proof that college basketball jokes about last season’s historical upset are moving in the rear view mirror.
Kyle Guy, who scored 13 points for Virginia, spoke about how the Cavaliers are built for this difficult journey back to the NCAA Tournament.
“It’s not easy or everyone would be doing it,” Guy said via The AP. “But we’re bred a little bit differently. We train for this. Yeah, our legs are tired, but we’ve practiced for this endurance.”
Cavaliers coach Tony Bennett echoed similar feelings as well.
“If you’re sound and your game doesn’t change, regardless of the environment, it can allow you, if you’re home or on the road, to stay true to that,” Bennett said. “This team, they don’t get outside of themselves.”
With the victory, the Virginia Cavaliers improved to 15-0 (3-0 in the ACC). Up next is a tough game against the Virginia Tech Hokies on Tuesday night. With Buzz Williams building a good program, Virginia finally has a proper in-state rival.
