One season removed from being on the wrong side of history, and now the Virginia Cavaliers are headed to the Elite Eight portion of the NCAA Tournament. Their work, however, is not yet done. The goal for the program isn’t just an appearance in the Elite Eight.
After defeating the Oregon Ducks in the Sweet 16, Braxton Key did admit the victory was a bit of an accomplishment, but did make it a point to say the Cavs aren’t yet done.
“I mean, it’s definitely a milestone for us,” Virginia guard Braxton Key said. “But we’re not done yet.”
The game wasn’t exactly the most exciting to watch. Virginia certainly earned the win by holding Oregon to only 49 points, but the Cavaliers scored just 53 themselves.
“At times we struggled,” Virginia coach Tony Bennett said, “but we made enough offensive plays and certainly rallied defensively.”
Whatever with the iffy offenses. The Virginia Cavaliers did what they needed to do. Survive and advance in the NCAA Tournament.
