The Duke Blue Devils handled the Hartford Hawks rather easily on Wednesday night, but that didn’t mean Coach K was happy throughout the entire game. Not even two minutes into the second half, the legendary coach called a timeout, leaving superstar freshman Zion Williamson initially confused.
When the timeout was called, Coach K slammed the bottom of his chair to the ground in an effort to get his young team’s attention.
“I didn’t know what he was doing at first — I was like, he just had the chair and he started hitting the ground,” Zion Williamson said, via The AP. “It’s just motivation for us to pick it up, because when he’s doing that, obviously it means we’re not doing our job.”
It’s probably worth noting that cool stuff did happen in the game:

Per rules of him being good at basketball, Williamson finished the game with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Fellow Duke Blue Devils super-freshman, R.J. Barrett, finished with 27 points and a career-best 15 rebounds.
It is unlikely the chair stomp played that much of a role into the two having stellar games, but whatever works.
With the win, Duke improves to 8-1 on the season. Chairs being used by Coach K, however, have fallen to 0-1.
